The List: 10 more things I am liking a lot.
About a month ago I LOL’d with shock at hitting 10K subscribers—now it’s 20K. Still a wild mix of terrifying and amazing that so many of you read my stuff. So I am keeping traditions alive...
Sometime in the last week or so, I hit 20K subscribers on Substack which is wild because about a month ago I had 10K and I thought that was wild.
To celebrate hitting 10K, I decided I’d tell you about 10 things I’d been loving recently and it feels right to keep tradition alive and now tell you another 10 THINGS I HAVE BEEN LOVING RECENTLY.
I honestly didn’t know that I even loved a total of 20 things. And maybe I don’t really love them. Maybe they just love-bombed me enough into believing it’s love, and I’ll look back on this post with a mixture of longing and regret. Nah, I do think I really love them. Either way it does not really matter!
What does matter is the love-bombing I’m gonna give you all for subscribing and being here. Thanks so much—you make life a little funner! And of course, to you paid cuties: you are the best, and you get extra love in the form of an extra 5 things I am loving!
Included in this list (some above and some below the paywall) are:
Three excellent books
A few TV shows
One Goddess
A list (yes, there is a list in my list)
and a bunch of other maybe interesting stuff!
1. Havianas
People think it’s kind of gross to have your dogs out (i.e. toes — I’m a millennial, I’ll provide context when needed) in NYC during the summer. But I literally cannot keep my feet contained. They need fresh air. They must breathe.
Havaianas in brown with the square toe are the best thing that’s happened to me. And chic girls are wearing them too, so it’s not just me (a definitely not chic girl).

2. Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
This book was really good—moody, dramatic, and extremely dark (and depressing) . That’s true both in terms of the story itself, which is full of tragedy (after tragedy, after tragedy), and in the broader “I feel bad about the state of the world” kind of way. And even though it wasn’t exactly a fun read, it was the kind of read that had me staying up all night because I-needed-to-finish-it-immediately.
3. Olivia Dean
I. CANNOT. STOP. LISTENING. TO. OLIVIA. DEAN.
All day. Every day.
Here we are… back again…

Why do I love this show so much? I do not know. But I do. The acting is great. The costumes? Phenomenal. The drama of new money vs. old money. Old-school New York. Tawdry, naughty Romeo-and-Juliet romances. It’s just a brilliant watch!
5. Fresh, summery herbs & veg
There are very few people who can say they have a sweet & kind landlord in New York—and even fewer who can say they have a sweet, kind landlord who delivers fresh herbs and vegetables through their window from his garden.

He always reminds me they’re organic, and I cannot tell you how good this basil was—especially made into a pesto that I’ve been eating on a sandwich every day.
Definitely not my usual content, but I just bought 3 more pairs of these—bringing my total to 9. That’s a lot of one style of underwear, so I must really like them. Specifically, I love the high-waisted Botanical Lace style. They’re comfortable, cute enough, the high cut is just right, and they don’t ride up or roll down.
7. The Safe Keep by Yael van der Wouden
I did a full review of this book here- but my goodness it was good. This book really caught me off guard—in the best way. It did such a brilliant job exploring desire and memory, all through the lingering shadows of WWII.
8. The New York Times Best Movies of the 21st Century List
I love lists like this! I’d seen 35 of the movies, which was way more than I anticipated—because I feel like I’ve never seen anything. Kind of rude that my favorite movie, the comedic masterpiece 27 Dresses, didn’t make the list, but there are plenty of great ones on here. Definitely a good place to come when you need something to watch,
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but it’s fucking hot in New York right now. Also incredibly humid. Which maybe makes this a weird thing to include on this list—but I just need some fresh liquid on my face that isn’t my own sweat. Okay, that sentence was weird, but you catch my drift. It makes me feel fresh even when I am not.
One of my best recent purchases. Light enough to wear in summer with nothing but a bra underneath, perfect to throw on for a breezy evening. It never wrinkles, so you can toss it in any bag. Comfy, not scratchy—just a delight.t
And now and extra five thing for my paid subscriber cuties… including what might be the book everyone is talking about this summer.
